Bar staff
Location: Chichester
Salary: £11.44 per hour
(only candidates 18+ due to licensing requirements)

About the role:
Bee Happy Recruitment are working with a well-established client in the hospitality industry
who are looking for bar staff to join the team. The bar & restaurant itself is an Independently
owned fine dining restaurant serving modern European dishes, with the best cocktails, wine
bar with seating and a wonderful outdoor garden area, very popular with the theatre crowd
perfect for a light snack or that special meal.

Job duties include:

1. Serving Customers
- Taking Orders: Receive drink and sometimes food orders from customers.
- Preparing Drinks: Make and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic
drinks, including cocktails, beers, wines, and spirits.
- Recommending Drinks: Offer advice to customers about different beverages,
including making recommendations for wine, cocktails, or special promotions.

2. Cash Handling and Payment Processing
- Processing Payments: Handle cash, credit card, or mobile payments for drinks and food.
- Providing Receipts: Offer receipts if requested and ensure the correct amount of change is given.
- Operating the Cash Register: Use a point of sale (POS) system to track orders and sales.
3. Stocking and Inventory Management
- Restocking the Bar: Ensure that the bar is well-stocked with beverages, garnishes,
ice, and other essentials.
- Managing Inventory: Assist with inventory management, counting bottles, and
reporting shortages or overstock.
- Ordering Supplies: Communicate with suppliers or managers about stock
replenishment needs.
4. Cleaning and Maintenance

- Cleaning the Bar Area: Wipe down the bar, tables, and chairs; wash glasses and
utensils; and ensure the bar is tidy and presentable.
- Sanitizing Equipment: Regularly clean beer taps, coffee machines, blenders, and
other equipment.

- Emptying Bins: Dispose of waste properly, including emptying trash cans and
recycling bins.

5. Compliance and Safety
- Checking ID: Verify the age of customers to ensure they are of legal drinking age.
- Maintaining Health and Safety Standards: Ensure the bar area adheres to local
health and safety regulations, including hygiene and cleanliness.
- Managing Alcohol Responsibility: Refuse service to customers who appear
intoxicated and manage conflict situations calmly.

6. Customer Service and Engagement
- Engaging with Customers: Provide friendly and attentive service, making customers
feel welcome.
- Handling Complaints: Deal with customer complaints or issues professionally, aiming for quick resolution.
- Promoting Events or Specials: Inform customers about upcoming events,
promotions, or new items on the menu.
7. Teamwork and Communication

- Collaborating with Other Staff: Work closely with waitstaff, kitchen staff, and
management to ensure smooth service.
- Communicating Needs: Inform team members about issues with stock, customers, or equipment.
8. Preparation for Service
- Setting Up the Bar: Prepare the bar for opening by ensuring all supplies, garnishes, and drinks are in place.
- Prepping Ingredients: Slice fruits, make syrups, and prepare other drink ingredients ahead of time.
- Setting Up the till: Ensure the cash register is ready for the day with adequate
change.

Shift patterns:
Day shift: 10am - 5pm
Evening shift: 5pm - 11.30/12pm
Split shift: 11am - 3pm & 5pm - 11.30/12pm
Please note - Candidates will be expected to work weekends and have own transport for the evening shifts.
(Previous knowledge of cocktails & wine is advantageous but not essential.)
